Lauren Levinger

Lauren Levinger is the spirited and intuitive Co-Founder of Spread the Jelly, a platform dedicated to deepening the cultural narrative surrounding modern motherhood. Her sense of ease and irreverence shapes both her brand and the life she moves through. We sat down with Lauren to talk about the way denim becomes personal over time — how a pair gathers memory through the everyday, from downtown errands to dinners with friends, from moments of chaos to quiet rituals at home. Worn across the rhythms of city life and motherhood, her jeans move effortlessly between structure and slouch, polish and play. OSSOU is something she reaches for without thinking— versatile, lived-in, and expressive of a point of view that is as dynamic as it is instinctive.

OSSOU: What makes a pair of jeans feel like yours?

LAUREN LEVINGER: When you start attaching memories to them.

O: Where have these jeans already been with you, and where are they going next?

LL: The M15 Bus & preschool drop-offs, Lower East Side Bodegas, my apartment floor digging up dinosaur fossils with my son, burger and martinis dinner at Corner Bar with my girlfriends — excited to pack them in a suitcase for an international getaway.

O: A film scene that captures your mood today.

LL: Romy & Michelle’s high school reunion when they ask for the “business woman special” - I’m channeling that today.

O: Morning ritual in 3 words.

LL: Coffee, Chaos, Kisses

O: What’s usually in your back pocket?

LL: Usually nothing! I keep everything in the front pockets and usually it’s a lip liner, lip gloss and credit card.

O: These jeans are your uniform for what kind of day?

LL: These jeans are honestly perfect for any occasion. I have dressed them up, worn them running around NYC errands and don't feel the need to immediately take them off when I get home after a long day. A testament to how comfortable they are!

O: If these jeans could talk, what would they say about you?

LL: They would say “She could use a nap” ;)

O: Structured or slouched?

LL: Slouched.

O: The best compliment you’ve ever received wearing denim.

LL: ‘Your butt looks great in those.’

O: Which artist, architect, or designer always re-centers you?

LL: I love going to the Neue Galerie uptown to sit in front of Gustav Klimt’s “Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer” You just get lost in it. And it doesn’t hurt to have a slice of cake and espresso afterwards at Cafe Sabarsky.

O: The one piece you always pair with denim.

LL: I have a blazer and leather jacket addiction. You can almost guarantee I’m wearing one or the other with my jeans.

O: What makes this pair that pair?

LL: They are so comfortable but simultaneously create a really elevated silhouette that makes them feel really elegant. They are extremely versatile. I literally wear them for every occasion.

O: What’s the wildest thing you’ve done in denim?

LL: Denim has always been central to my wardrobe, so they have seen me through every life stage. I would say my college denim and early 20’s NYC jeans saw the most wild nights.
